Digestive Concerns

Constipation

Infrequent, hard or difficult stools with a sense of incomplete evacuation — often improved by hydration, fibre, movement and a consistent morning routine.

The everyday causes

Low water intake, too little fibre or a sudden increase in it, irregular meal times, inactivity, ignoring the urge, and disturbed sleep. Stress plays a direct role too, which is why constipation often worsens during difficult stretches.

Building a routine

Warm water on waking, a fixed and unhurried bathroom window, fibre increased gradually alongside more water, daily walking, and gentle yoga practice for abdominal mobility. Consistency over weeks matters far more than any one remedy.

When to check with a doctor

New constipation after the age of 50, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss or anaemia need medical assessment, not lifestyle adjustment.

Please note

This page is general wellness education, not a diagnosis. Persistent, severe or new symptoms — and warning signs such as blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, fever, repeated vomiting or anaemia — need a qualified healthcare professional. Our guidance works alongside your doctor's care, never in place of it.

Each condition page clearly states that diagnosis and medical treatment require the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
