Colitis
Inflammation of the colon, which can cause pain, urgency, diarrhoea and sometimes blood in the stool — a medical condition distinct from IBS.
Different from IBS
Colitis involves visible inflammation of the bowel lining, unlike IBS where the structure is normal. That difference matters: colitis is diagnosed through investigation and managed medically, often long term.
Supportive care
Under a doctor's supervision, gentle food guidance, adequate rest, stress management and appropriate light practice can improve day-to-day comfort. Blood in the stool always needs medical assessment.
