Yoga supports IBS in three ways: it improves abdominal mobility, it lowers overall nervous-system arousal, and it builds the kind of daily rhythm that IBS responds well to.
What kind of practice
Gentle, comfortable asana chosen for the abdomen; slow pranayama; and a proper relaxation at the end. The aim is not a demanding session — it is a repeatable one. A twenty-minute practice done six days a week outperforms an hour done occasionally.
Practising safely
Stay within comfort and never push through pain. Practise on a reasonably empty stomach. If you have any other medical condition, or you are pregnant, learn under direct guidance rather than from a video.
What to expect
Changes are usually gradual: calmer mornings, fewer sharp flare-ups, better sleep. Results differ from person to person, and nobody should promise you a cure.
